I love to go hiking with them, and exploring this beautiful state.
Being Miss Oahu Filipina
Since I was a little girl my family has always told me that I would become Miss Oahu Filipina one day. So growing up this was the title that I have always wanted. However, I love this title because it has taught me so much about my culture and heritage. Being in Hawaii it was always hard being Filipino American. I had a hard time learning about my culture, this title has allowed me to be immersed in the Filipino community here in Hawaii. I am able to be a part of cultural events and practice my language with others here in Hawaii.
My platform is Perfectly Imperfect: embracing differences to reach our dreams. My dream title was to be Miss Oahu Filipina, I was first runner up in 2015, I didn’t place in 2017, and I was crowned in 2018. Throughout my journey people would tell me I wasn’t good enough to win and to give up. But, if I listened to them I would not be here. My platform is dear to me because I want to encourage everyone to go for their dreams. If it takes you a year or thirty, to keep going. Embrace and know who you are, because when you embrace yourself and love yourself for who you are that is when our dreams start to come through.
